On Thursday November 6, 2014, the London InterCommunity Health Centre celebrated 25 years of providing service to the community with an event for more than 200 community members, volunteers and staff and clients.
The event, called “See One Community” showcased images, stories, dance and song extolling the possibilities of a community that is healthy, wealthy, connected and whole. Guests were treated to poetry readings by Harry Kuhn and Ola Nowosad, a dance performance by the Dynamic Dozen, Aboriginal drumming and singing by the Nahii singers and a spine-tingling performance by local spoken word poet Holly Painter.
Special guest Deb Matthews, MPP for London North Centre, Deputy Premier, President of the Treasury Board and Minister Responsible for Poverty Reduction announced $10.3M for capital leaseholder improvements for the Health Centre’s Dundas street location. Tillman, Ruth, Robinson was announced as the project’s architect.
We thank the many volunteers, clients and community members who shared their stories and allowed us to profile them through the seeonecommunity.ca website and at the public event. We also thank our sponsors, TD Canada Trust, Harrison Pensa, Lovers at Work, the Centre for Organizational Effectiveness, Platinum Leadership and the Horizon Leadership Institute for their generosity and commitment to our organization – we couldn’t have done it without you.
