Good healthy food and the knowledge of how to cook it, makes for a vibrant community. I make fresh refreshments from scratch every Monday for the Cards, Games and Crafts program at the London InterCommunity Health Centre.
Cooking is my passion and I love to see people in the program eating healthy food. I think that games, crafts and healthy food definitely contribute to a happy sense of place.
I am excited to say that we are starting a new community cooking program. It will teach community members the fundamentals of cooking in a very legible and accessible way. We want to teach people how to cook healthy and delicious meals. Cooking regular meals is also less expensive and more healthy than eating fast food.
We are also starting a canning program which will teach people how to preserve foods. I feel that these programs will have a significant impact in our community. It will allows community members to get together and socialize around the art cooking. Yet it will also help people to save money and eat healthy food.
